Just off the north coast of Gwynedd in North Wales is the Isle of Anglesey. Fringed with stunning beaches and full of fascinating historical sites from the UNESCO World Heritage Beaumaris Castle to the lunar landscape of the copper mine at Parys Mountain, the east of the island also offers great views of Snowdonia National Park.

We’ve researched the island dozens of times over the years and think it’s a great place in which either to base yourself or to visit if you’re taking a break from the mountains and coastline of mainland Wales.

If you base yourself there, you’ll need somewhere to stay. With this in mind, here’s out list of Top 10 Hotel Recommendations on Anglesey:

Top 10 Hotel Recommendations on Anglesey

We give you an idea as to what’s in the area around each choice but remember that Anglesey’s a small-ish place so it’s relatively easy to explore the island from any of the hotels.  Enjoy!

Ps, if you live on the island or know it well, we’d love to hear your recommendations as to where to go and what to do. Thanks.

There are scores of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) and National Scenic Areas (NSAs) within the UK.

To help you discover these areas, we’ve been adding quick guides to PictureTheUK. For example, here are some of the AONB quick guides that we’ve added for South East England:

Kent Downs AONB

High Weald AONB

Surrey Hills AONB

Sussex Downs AONB

East Hampshire AONB

Isle of Wight AONB

These AONBs cut across county boundaries and, in some cases, constitute National Parks.
