Dartmoor National Park is home to some fantastic hotels.  Gidleigh Park Hotel, for example, scooped EnjoyEngland’s ‘Hotel of the Year’ award this year and is well known across the UK as one of its top luxury hotels.   There are many others with exceptional locations within, or on the borders of, the Park …

1. Bovey Castle – an exquisite luxury hotel to the north east of Dartmoor close to Moretonhampstead and Chagford.

2. Two Bridges Hotel – located in the heart of Dartmoor with exceptional walking on its doorstep.

3. Lydford Country House – on the western border of the Park and local to Lydford Castle and the magnificent National Trust Lydford Gorge.

4. The Edgemoor Country House Hotel – to the east of Dartmoor and close to Haytor Rocks and Lustleigh Cleave.  Close to some of the best walking trails in the Park.

5. The White Hart Hotel – in the centre of Moretonhampstead and close to the National Trust’s Castle Drogo, the exceptional Teign Gorge and the high moors to the north of the Park.

Best hotels on the Devon coast

If you’re looking to discover some of the best hotels on the Devon coast then we’ve pulled out a selection from the thousands of hotels that can be found on PictureTheUK.  There are tens of thousands of photos, too, that’ll help you discover places to visit and things to do in the areas local to the hotels.

1. Watersmeet Hotel – we travel around the UK extensively and this hotel has one of the finest locations we’ve seen.  The hotel looks out across the beaches and sea at Morte Bay in the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

2. The Saunton Sands Hotel – just down the coastline from Watersmeet Hotel and with exceptional views of Saunton Sands in the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

3. The Tors Hotel – perched above Lynmouth on the Exmoor National Park coastline.

4. The Victoria Hotel – one of Sidmouth’s finest.   Over in the east of the county in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

5. Barcel Torquay Imperial Hotel – for the view alone, we think!  Overlooks Torquay Marina and out across  The English Riviera.

6. The Royal Castle Hotel – looks out across Dartmouth, one of the finest destinations in Devon.  Boats take you up river to Totnes (twinned with Narnia) or out to sea and along the South Devon coast.

7. Tides Reach Hotel – idyllic location by South Sands beach looking out across the Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary.  Take the sea tractor and then taxi boat to central Salcombe.

8.  Langdon Court Hotel – a short walk from the magnificent Plymouth Sound.
